A little about me
I live in Old East Dallas and take pride in my neighborhood and community. I went to medical school here in Dallas at UT Southwestern and then moved to Baltimore, Maryland where I spent 12 years, first at University of Maryland for training in internal medicine and then specialization in pulmonary and critical care medicine. After training, I was on faculty at Johns Hopkins where I practiced pulmonary and critical care medicine and specialized in interstitial lung diseases and lung transplantation, and then was on faculty at UT Southwestern, where I have wonderful colleagues. I have seen much of what there is offered from conventional medicine from patients in the clinic to the ICU and think there is more to healing than prescribing pharmaceuticals. So I began to study functional, natural and holistic medicine and immersed myself in immunology to better understand the molecular and cellular pathways in which our bodies function. After a struggle with my own health, that was very frightening and eye opening to be a on the patient side of medicine, I realized that integrative and functional medicine was where I belonged in being a healer. I am finding great joy in helping my patients to better health. When I am not practicing medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 wonderful daughters, who are amazing gifts from God. I enjoy art, good books, yoga and being outdoors with my family.
